Maintenance Support Technician

The Work You Will Do:
Maintenance Support Technician / Support Services
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking the Burns and Blanche Johnson Bldgs. restrooms.
- Relocating Department furnishings and other Department resources within the Central Office.
- Cleaning all entrance doors and glass windows to Burns building, Auditorium, Johnson Building and Springhill facility daily.
- Cleaning cigarette urns, polishing wood & cleaning glass at receptionist/security desk, disposing of wastepaper, dusting furniture (partitions & air vents), cleaning floors (sweep, mop, and dust mop), stairwells, bathrooms, cleaning & sanitizing drinking fountains and walls daily.
- Stocking supplies used in custodial carts and bathrooms and reporting low inventory to the supervisor.
- Walking grounds and parking lots and picking up trash & debris, sweeping parking lot steps.
- Loading and unloading trucks (including surplus property) and moving furniture (to include disassemble, reassemble and set up) or other heavy equipment and materials.
- Keeping surplus and workstation parts warehouse clean and organized.
- Receiving, completing, & responding to general facility work order request via the work order system.
- Moving furniture to & from building for surplus.
- Assisting with conference room(s) and auditorium furniture set up/arrangement.
- Responsible for maintaining all bulletin boards.
- Assisting with minor maintenance repairs and monthly preventative maintenance (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), check fire extinguishers at Springhill Rd facility.
- Carrying tools and parts to and from storage and work areas.
- Serving as backup for service coordination with contractors and vendors.
- Assisting with the Department of Transportation recycling program, to include collections and delivery of recyclables for funds collection for the Central Office Employee Benefit Fund (EBF).
- Serving as a member of the emergency response team (fire drills, bomb threats).
- Conducting weekly service on Automated External Defibrillator (AED) machines.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of general janitorial techniques, cleaning supplies and procedures.
- Safety procedures.
- Skill in providing quality customer service.
- Ability to use personal computer, skill in using Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to plan, organize and work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of custodial work, i.e., heavy lifting and moving desk, filing cabinets, heavy furniture, and equipment.
- Ability to promptly meet work schedule for custodial services.
- Ability to handle multi tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions through to completion of assignments.
- Ability to work as a team member and get along with peers, supervisors, and customers.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in custodial/janitorial services.
