This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at the Central Office in the Maintenance Department. The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.

Job Duties

This is a highly advanced position requiring a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the commercial construction field. The position serves as a Subject Matter Expert for new construction and major maintenance repair and renovation projects at institutional facilities Statewide. This position will serve as the team leader for major repairs and renovations to various components of a correctional facility.

Serve as Team Lead for various maintenance systems necessary to operate a major institution. Train General Maintenance staff within the region. Administer construction projects by Agency personnel, inmate labor, and contracts. Assist with developing plans and budget requests for the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC). Evaluate, select, and manage work by A/E consultants and CM firms, including contract negotiations and project compliance.

Requirements

Six (6) or more years of professional experience in the commercial construction field. Three (3) or more years of experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
