Position: Utilities Plant Operator (Tiers 2-4) Small Systems – Licensed

Job Overview

Utilities Plant Operator performs certified and skilled work or directs and oversees the performance of certified and skilled work in the operation of Advanced Water Reclamation, Potable Water supply, distribution systems, and solids management to provide high quality treatment of water and wastewater in compliance with Florida Administrative Codes and local rules and regulations.

Salary

Hiring range $45,281 – $89,564

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate holds a Class ‘C’ Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator’s license or above, has experience and knowledge of operating principles and practices applicable to small drinking water treatment facilities. This candidate will possess strong written, oral and electronic (email, text, etc) communication skills. The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with an ability to make sound and logical corrective actions.

The candidate would have considerable experience with the day to day operations and light maintenance of small drinking water systems to include the installation of sodium hypochlorite pumps and injectors and the safe delivery of sodium hypochlorite via county WRS owned delivery truck. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to maintain detailed operations records and logs. The successful candidate would be a highly motivated, self-starter possessing extensive motivational and teaching skills.

The ideal candidate would have a history of safely working with various chemicals and reagents. The ideal candidate would have the ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations to provide for public health and safety.

The ideal candidate would be proficient in the use of computer and related software such as SCADA, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Applicants must also possess a high school diploma or a GED Certificate and a valid driver’s license.
