Hiring salary range: $1,336.92 - $1,604.31 / biweekly range
$34,760.00 - $41,712.00 / annual range
Anticipated biweekly salary: $1,395.07
A competitive area differential (cad) additive in the amount of $561.60 will be added to the annual salary.

This position will be responsible for maintaining our state roadway system.

Your specific responsibilities:
Assists with operating a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck once a class b license instructional permit is obtained. Performs pre-trip inspection/minor maintenance on vehicles/equipment. Cleans and washes equipment.
Uses small hand, power and pneumatic tools. Examples include shovels, hammers, drills, hand-held string and blade trimmers, push mowers, saws, jackhammers, etc. The duties and responsibilities are done in the performance and completion of one or more of the following assignments; repairs and/or replaces guardrails, attenuators and/or fences, assists in the repair of asphalt/concrete surfaces, cuts, trims and removes trees, shrubs and vegetation, assists in shoulder restoration including mulching, seeding, fertilizing, etc.,
removes litter and debris, performs large and small machine mowing, assists in repair, replacement and/or cleaning of drainage structures, assists in installation and/or removal of signs.
Inspects and performs light maintenance on tools, equipment and vehicles.
Flags traffic and/or places or removes traffic control devices.
The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
Typical construction measuring tools, equipment, or instruments and standard safety techniques.
Skilled in:
Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
Ability to:
Read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports and forms.
Maintain and repair highways, bridges and/or other highway structures.
Communicate both verbally and in writing, including following oral/written instructions.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others. Lift, carry, and handle up to 50 pounds.
Stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend on a frequent basis. Work outdoors in various weather conditions, on various terrains and at various heights or in high volume traffic.
Stand for an extended period of time.
Perform minor maintenance and/or repair jobs.
Operate motor vehicles and other mechanized equipment.
Other job-related requirements:
