Crew Leader, Janitor

The Crew Leader, Custodian will perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a safe and healthy learning environment in all school district facilities. Supervisory expectations include managing assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. District expectations include demonstrating regular and predictable attendance, supporting the district's vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan, engaging in civility, respect, and professionalism, and maintaining the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and burnishing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms, cleaning and dusting all horizontal and vertical surfaces, removing and disposing of waste products daily, maintaining clean custodial closets, performing minor non-cleaning maintenance tasks of the facility, following a lawn and facility maintenance program, opening or closing and securing the facility, performing work duties independently and/or as part of a custodial crew, supervising assigned personnel, preparing all required reports, performing basic computer skills, performing duties and responsibilities of the head custodian in the event of absence, vacancy, or as directed, possessing basic comprehensive skills of the working English language, and performing any other duties as assigned.
