Position: Janitor/Housekeeping (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall orderliness of the Temecula Veterans Center. This role ensures a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for employees, clients, and visitors by performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • General Cleaning & Maintenance
    • Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and sanitize all designated areas, including offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
    • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and shared equipment.
    • Maintain windows, mirrors, and glass partitions free of streaks and smudges.
  • Waste & Recycling Management
    • Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and dispose of waste in designated areas.
    • Sort and dispose of recyclables according to facility guidelines.
    • Maintain cleanliness in waste disposal areas.
  • Restroom Maintenance
    • Clean and disinfect restrooms, ensuring proper sanitation.
    • Restock supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
    • Report any plumbing or fixture issues to the supervisor.
  • Floor Care
    • Sweep and mop floors; vacuum and spot-clean carpets as needed.
    • Follow proper floor maintenance procedures for different surfaces.
  • Supply & Equipment Management
    • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when replenishment is needed.
    • Properly store and handle cleaning chemicals following safety guidelines.
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of mops, vacuums, and sanitation equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Follow all workplace safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe conditions.
    • Respond to spills and emergency cleaning situations promptly.
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support facility upkeep.
