Facilities Management, Tempe campus, seeks a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Coordinator Senior to provide and coordinate the maintenance and repair of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex facilities, systems, and fitness equipment. Service and maintain commercial swimming pools, including water chemistry, service, and repair. This position reports to FDM for items related to the pool and Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness for things related to the building.
Essential Duties
- HVAC Maintenance:
Replace and maintain motors, bearings, pumps, fan assemblies, air filters, and thermostats. - Electrical Maintenance:
Maintain building and emergency lighting systems to include bulb & ballast repair and replacement. Work with 277-volt lighting. Maintain electrical outlet and distribution panels and breakers. - Plumbing Maintenance:
Repair and replace faucets, flush valves, sink drains, and drinking fountains; shower fixtures and mixing valves. Clean clogged drains and replace traps. - Carpentry Maintenance:
Repair and replace carpet and ceramic floor tiles. Adjust and replace door closers, repair and replace flush bolts, push/pull handles, kick plates, and door strikes. Repair and replace cabinetry hardware. Complete drywall repairs for holes and damages to include texturing & painting. - Schedule building lighting and HVAC systems based on the needs of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex operations.
- Coordinate maintenance services for vendors (i.e. fire systems, chiller, landscaping, etc.) to not disrupt Sun Devil Fitness Complex operations.
- Assist Fitness Complex management staff with program events.
- Perform daily/week/monthly walkthroughs of the SDFC and surrounding grounds to identify issues, correct and record.
- Submit Work Orders via web forms to ASU Facility Management and provide follow-up until the project is repaired/completed.
- Coordination and submission of surplus items to be picked up from the SDFC as needed.
- Recommend lifecycle replacement schedules for furniture, flooring, and fixtures.
- Inspect, repair, monitor, and maintain pool equipment such as filters, chlorinators, analyzers, pumps, and heaters.
- Test pool water for proper water chemistry. Apply chemicals as needed. Maintain records log for water chemistry.
- Brush and vacuum the pool bottom and sides. Clean tiles and wash down pool decks.
- Identify and procure equipment parts, supplies, and chemicals.
- Communicate to perform essential functions of the job.
DAYS AND
SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday; 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
This position is based at ASU's Tempe campus and may require working from other campuses depending on operational needs.
Salary Range:
$46,000 - $51,000 per year or commensurate of experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona

Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial building maintenance and repair.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing recreational and fitness center facilities.
- Experience maintaining public or semi-public pools greater than 30,000 gallons.
- Experience in offering exceptional customer service in a dynamic and diverse environment.
- Experience with facilities operations and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Experience utilizing computers and Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Evidence of Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) Certification.
- Knowledge of green building design and operations, specifically LEED criteria.
Working Environment
- Moderate physical activity.
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk distances outside to perform work.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds.
- Utilize specific hand tools and equipment related to essential duties.
- Work off ladders, scaffolding, single man lifts up to 40 feet.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- May use standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, electronic tablet, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone, and associated computer and technology peripherals.
- Drive University vehicles/carts.
- May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific processes to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, gloves, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use.
