Automotive Technician
Job Description: Responsible for performing journey-level repairs on gas and diesel engines and related systems for vehicles and serves as lead worker assigning and monitoring the work of other mechanics.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance on buses and other district vehicles; conduct vehicle emissions tests; diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, braking, and air conditioning problems with vehicles including those over 10,000 lbs. G.V.W.; provide oversight for mechanics operations and staff including opening and closing the shop; maintain shop documentation; prioritize and assign work, train and monitor the work of others; perform inventory control including purchasing automotive parts and related documentation.
JobQualifications
High School Diploma or GED, vocational training in an approved automotive program, and two years of experience repairing gas and diesel engines and related systems for vehicles less than and more than 10,000 lbs. G.V.W. are required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above:
- AZ Commercial Driver's License with P&S endorsement
- AZ School Bus Driver's Certificate
- Valid IVP Level One AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card is required
- CPR Certificate with AED
- First Aid Certificate
- AZ Environmental Quality Emissions Inspector License with fleet endorsement
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (CFC-12) Freon License

Employment Information26/27 school year; 40 hours per week; 260 days per school year
SalaryBand B23 - $22.46/hr entry level
