Pool Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pool Technician to join our resort maintenance team. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, functionality, and overall appearance of all resort pools, spas, and aquatic systems to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining high operational standards. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, knowledge of pool mechanical systems and water chemistry, and the ability to work independently while delivering professional service in a hospitality-driven environment.
As a Pool Technician, you will play an important role in protecting guest safety, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring all aquatic facilities remain clean, operational, and guest-ready at all times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain resort swimming pools, spas, pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, circulation systems, and related equipment.
- Monitor and maintain proper water chemistry, including pH, chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabilizer levels, and ORP systems.
- Utilize spin lab testing equipment and software to accurately test, record, and document water quality.
- Apply knowledge of the Langelier Saturation Index to maintain balanced water conditions and prevent scaling or corrosion.
- Diagnose and repair pool equipment and mechanical systems efficiently and safely.
- Complete preventative maintenance and respond promptly to service requests using company mobile work-order software.
- Ensure all pools, spas, and surrounding areas remain clean, sanitary, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Perform daily inspections of pool areas, drains, grates, furniture, safety equipment, and aquatic features.
- Maintain accurate chemical logs and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all local and state health regulations.
- Clean and maintain pool furniture, windows, and surrounding guest areas to uphold resort presentation standards.
- Identify maintenance concerns proactively and address issues before they impact operations or guest satisfaction.
- Communicate professionally with guests, team members, supervisors, and leadership.
- Maintain flexibility to support resort operations, including weekends, holidays, and peak occupancy periods.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by resort leadership.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification required
- Strong knowledge of pool systems, water chemistry, ORP systems, and preventative maintenance practices
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical pool equipment preferred
- Ability to work independently with strong time-management and problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and customer service abilities
- Basic smartphone and mobile software proficiency for work-order management
- Must provide personal basic hand tools (power tools provided by company)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift equipment or chemical supplies for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely handle pool chemicals and maintenance equipment
