Floor Technician – 2nd Shift

The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining clean interiors of buildings, performing sweeping, mopping, and other cleaning tasks under the supervision of the Custodial Manager.

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Use light and heavy floor buffers and shuttle machines.
• Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas.
• Spot‑clean daily and shampoo rugs when directed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and all other horizontal surfaces, including periodic high dusting.
• Wash windowsills and glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior and exterior.
• Wash or spot‑clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily; perform sweeping, mopping, wiping, dusting, and other standard bathroom procedures.
• Monitor possible defects such as clogged urinals and light failures, and report to supervisors.
• Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and deliver it to the designated collection area.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specifications.
• Sweep or shovel snow from steps and walkways at building entrances and connecting sidewalks as directed.
• Perform periodic duties such as high dusting, leather and wood surface care, polishing, and wall washing.
• Carry out any other duties as assigned.

• No previous experience required.
• Must be able to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
• Must function cooperatively as part of a team.
• Must be able to use cleaning tools and equipment, including a portable backpack vacuum cleaner.
• Requires strong attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

• Compensation ranging from $14.45 to $17.00 per hour, depending on experience, location, and other factors.
