Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Title
This is semi-skilled work involving the operation, monitoring, cleaning, and maintenance of wastewater biosolids processing equipment and facilities.
Summary of Duties- Operates, monitors, and adjusts screw presses and associated biosolids processing equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
- Performs routine cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and minor preventive maintenance on biosolids equipment and related systems.
- Cleans plant equipment, pumps, processing areas, and work spaces to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.
- Performs general building and facility maintenance, including housekeeping, painting, minor repairs, and grounds maintenance as assigned.
- Operates light mechanical equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, light trucks, pressure washers, and hand and power tools.
- Loads and unloads materials, supplies, and equipment used in wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Assists maintenance personnel and plant operators with repairs, equipment maintenance, and other operational activities as needed.
- Identifies equipment malfunctions or operational concerns and reports them to supervisory personnel.
- Maintains accurate operating records and completes required logs and reports.
- Follows all City safety policies, wastewater operating procedures, and applicable environmental regulations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requires graduation from high school, GED or specialized vocational training. Requires possession of a valid Tennessee driver's license. CDL preferred. Requires six months of related experience.
Supplemental InformationPhysical demands refers to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Perform light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
