HSCS is comprised of nine psychiatric hospitals, one youth residential treatment facility, and thirteen state supported living centers. The psychiatric hospitals are a hub of excellence for forensic mental health and complex psychiatric care, with all facilities accredited by The Joint Commission. - Perform moderately complex custodial work including cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, sanitizing to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Operate floor maintenance equipment such as strippers, buffers, vacuums, and extractors.
- Request and restock supplies as necessary.
- Assist in conducting inspections of buildings and equipment for cleanliness and needed repairs.
- Assist in performing minor building and equipment repairs and installations.
- Accountable for maintaining assigned custodial equipment in good working order.
- Maintain outside areas around the hospital, clear trash and debris.
- Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including participation in disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation; such participation may require an alternate shift pattern or location.
- Attend work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
- Perform custodial functions timely and with high quality, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows and light fixtures.
- Ensure proper sanitization and disinfection in accordance with training received.
- Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, nurses' station, and other areas in accordance with established procedures and safety measures.
- Maintain and clean the interior and exterior of assigned buildings, empty trash, report needed repairs, and replenish supplies as needed.
- Coach other custodians as needed.
- Inspect assigned buildings and areas for cleanliness, completed work, and needed minor repairs; perform minor maintenance.
- Complete documentation in an accurate and timely manner, protect confidential information, and maintain inventory and equipment records.
- Help patients maintain optimal health and provide a safe environment for themselves, persons served, and others.
