GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Davis Mountains State Park‑Indian Lodge Assistant Superintendent, this position performs highly advanced (senior‑level) supervisory maintenance and construction work. The role involves leadership of maintenance duties at the Davis Mountains State Park‑Indian Lodge complex, supervising maintenance staff and volunteers by providing guidance, leadership, and training. Responsibilities include introducing work plans, scheduling, workload management, and assistance in all phases of maintenance, repair, and operation of facilities, equipment, and grounds.
The incumbent plans cyclical and preventive maintenance schedules, prepares project cost estimates, coordinates ordering of supplies and materials, and makes purchases in compliance with state purchasing rules. Additionally, the role works with Site Safety Officers to administer the TPWD safety program, operates equipment such as riding mowers, tractors, power tools, and gasoline‑operated equipment, and ensures regulatory compliance in site water utility operations.
The position also assists with planning and implementation of natural and cultural resource management tasks and preservation of historic facilities. The incumbent is expected to respond to abnormal or emergency situations such as water leaks, power outages, and visitor injuries. This role works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment, and performs additional duties as assigned.
