Position: TPWD - Custodial Manager I
Location: Fort Davis

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Indian Lodge Assistant Manager, this position performs moderately complex (journey-level) custodial supervisory work.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the daily cleaning and housekeeping duties related to Indian Lodge.
  • Clean guest rooms, restaurant, public use areas, and storage areas.
  • Perform laundry duties as needed.
  • Prepare the lodge for seasonal holidays and special events.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Assist with facilities and grounds maintenance duties as needed.
  • Manage the housekeeping team, including daily performance, scheduling, counseling, and performance reviews.
  • Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in general cleaning, housekeeping, or custodial work.
  • One year of supervisory experience in a housekeeping environment (experience may be concurrent).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of establishing and overseeing a team.
  • Knowledge of general facility, building, and grounds cleaning techniques.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the care and cleaning of buildings, appliances, and furnishings.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Skill in using custodial materials and chemicals.
  • Skill in cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms using chemicals in accordance with label directions.
  • Skill in operating custodial equipment.
  • Skill in using and maintaining building maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co‑workers and contacts.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to regularly inspect areas of responsibility, evaluate, and perform cleaning needs.
  • Ability to complete required forms and documents.
  • Ability to assist other housekeeping staff and perform duties in the absence of other staff members.
  • Ability to perform light maintenance duties.
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.
Working Conditions
  • Requires working in a public hotel–type facility.
  • Required to work 40 hours per week, including various schedules beyond 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off beyond Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
  • Required to adjust to changing schedules.
  • Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies.
