under general supervision, employees in this position perform general cleaning and custodial functions for city facilities and may include setting up rooms for special events, breaking down tables and chairs for storage after an event and assisting with other duties as assigned.
essential functionsessential and other key responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- cleans and maintains all aspects of city facilities including restrooms, counters, floors (both tile and carpet), windows, trash cans, lobbies, walls, furniture and fixtures, kitchens and all appliances, offices break rooms, and all back of house areas like storage, mechanical closets, and custodial closets. Cleaning and maintaining also includes outdoor areas such as entrances, patios, parking lots, etc.
- cleaning these areas includes but is not limited to dusting; sweeping, mopping, wiping, scrubbing, polishing, vacuuming, and emptying the trash; as well as replenishing supplies such as installing paper products in dispensers.
- report any necessary issues that may need maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, leaking toilets or sink, broken equipment, chairs or tables, doors that won’t shut properly, or any other problem that may need evaluation or attention.
- sets up for special events by arranging tables and chairs; setting up audio/visual equipment and breaking down tables and chairs for storage after an event.
- executes safe and effective methods in all activities which includes following departmental and city safety guidelines and attending required training when necessary.
- must be able to work variety of hours and weekends as needed.
- maintains integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the city by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
- cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
- perform additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
work is performed indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to all weather conditions is possible, with exposure to a variety of potential safety hazards. Exposure to vibrations, and noise; work on slippery surfaces, work with or in water; exposure to dust and fumes, chemical hazards while using cleaning supplies possible inhalation and absorption through skin if gloves are not worn.
physical conditionswhile performing the essential and marginal functions the employee may be required to maintain physical condition necessary for adequate physical performance abilities including moderate and heavy lifting; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing; standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, balancing, and crouching; use of hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach; speak and hear, use close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and ability to adjust focus;
must utilize auditory, sensory abilities constantly on the job site.

starting range is $13.81 hr. To $17.27 hr. Depending on qualifications. Hours are flexible and may include weekends. Additional benefits include: tmrs - 7% match 2 to 1; medical, dental, life insurance and long-term disability at no cost to employee; in addition, the city provides optional benefits such as: vision, 457 deferred compensation, flexible spending; and provides vacation and sick leave, and 11 paid holidays.
educationand/or experience
requires a high school diploma or equivalent and some manual labor experience or general cleaning and maintenance for public facilities preferred.
license or certificatepossession of an appropriate, valid texas class c driver's license with a good driving record.
