Lineworker Apprentice 1B
This position is responsible for performing duties required in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems. Essential duties and responsibilities include climbing poles and working on de-energized poles and lines, developing and maintaining familiarity with the operation and maintenance of the boom truck, digger and bucket truck and various pulling units, assisting in digging holes and setting poles, assisting experienced linemen as needed, studying and completing training manual, attending and successfully completing climbing school within six months of hire date, participating in and successfully completing training as scheduled in order to progress to Lineman Apprentice 2 status, demonstrating diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle, being available for call-out duty, operating equipment and hydraulic tamp, preparing materials for each project including cutouts, arrestors and transformers, loading and unloading vehicles, preparing vehicles for daily projects, cleaning cover up materials, repairing, cleaning and inspecting tools on the vehicles, assisting with material stocking, pulling of stock for projects, operating PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures, maintaining driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy, maintaining the security of confidential information, staying abreast of advances in technology, demonstrating regular and prompt attendance, and performing other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities include knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information, knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, skilled in time management, skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing and retain the information, ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems.
Minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of Department of Labor approved Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 1A, obtain a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Motor Vehicle Report that comply with PEC policy.

The employee may be required to stand; reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, sit or stand for long periods of time, lift, carry, push, pull or move up to 100 pounds, travel, routinely utilize Personal Protective Equipment, be available for call out duty and participate in emergency restoration, and is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including wet and humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period. This position may be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
