General DescriptionUnder the direction of the Custodial Manager, this position performs moderately complex custodial work including daily cleaning and housekeeping duties related to Indian Lodge. Duties include cleaning of guest rooms, restaurants, public use areas, and storage areas; performing laundry duties; monitoring and maintaining grounds for litter control; preparing lodge for seasonal holidays and special events; monitoring inventory; assisting with facilities and grounds maintenance;
and performing additional duties as assigned. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment and complies with all agency rules, regulations, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of 8th grade.
- Six months experience in general cleaning, housekeeping or custodial work.
- Valid state driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of facility, building and grounds cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and chemicals.
- Basic mathematics.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Customer service skills.
- Use and maintenance of custodial equipment.
- Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
- Follow instructions and work as a team or independently.
- Regularly inspect area of responsibility, evaluate and perform cleaning needs.
- Complete required forms and documents.
- Assist other housekeeping staff and perform duties in absence of others.
- Perform light maintenance duties and manual labor, lifting supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Adhere to TPWD safety program.
- Work in a public hotel‑type facility.
- 40 hour work week, varying schedules beyond standard 8:00‑5:00 and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, holidays.
- Adjust to changing schedules.
- Perform overtime as necessary.
- Work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather.
- Manual labor, lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Conform to dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
- Travel 5% of time with possible overnight stays.
- Operate a state vehicle.
