Janitor, Facility Maintenance, Cleaning Services, Maintenance Worker
Under supervision of the Facility Maintenance Director and Facility Maintenance Supervisor performs a variety of Janitorial duties to maintain the cleanliness, safetyandorderlinessofassignedrooms,buildings,and related
City facilities.
- Sweep, scrub, wax floors.
- Vacuum and clean rugs and carpets.
- Clean restrooms.
- Empty and clean waste receptacles.
- Wash and dust windows, walls and blinds.
- Clean walkways, sidewalks and parking lots.
- Inspect buildings for safety, fire and sanitary hazards and report to supervisor.
- Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment.
- Maintain janitorial equipment and supplies.
- Perform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks and other equipment.
- Set up rooms for meetings.
- Answer general questions from the public and City staff.
- May assist in training less experienced staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Good customer service skills. Ability to work with other employees as a team;
Knowledge of:
Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures. Cleaningmaterialsanddisinfectants,equipmentandtools used in Janitorial work. Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. The operation of motorized vehicles and power equipment, vacuums, and floor polishers. Ability to:
Usetoolsrequiredin Janitorial work.
Understandandfolloworalandwritteninstructions. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Mustbeable to bend, reach and kneel.
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent vocational training preferred but not required.
- Must possess valid Texas driver's license, Class "C" with acceptable driving record.
