Position Summary

The Housekeeper ensures a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for children, families, staff, and visitors at Mid-Columbia Children’s Council sites. This role supports health and safety standards required by federal, state, and program regulations.

This position is a full time Evening Shift 2:00pm to 10:00pm shift, with the potential to adjust at times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:

Cleaning & Sanitation

Clean classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas daily.

Disinfect surfaces, tables, bathrooms, diapering areas, and high-touch points according to Head Start/Early Head Start guidelines.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust venter spaces as assigned.

Launder and sanitize linens, cot sheets, and cleaning cloths on scheduled basis.

Classroom & Facility Support

Remove trash and recycling and dispose according to program procedures.

Maintain cleanliness of entry areas, playgrounds, storage closets, and staff areas.

Assist with classroom setup, spills, and cleanup as needed during program hours.

Health & Safety Compliance

Follow proper mixing and storage of cleaning chemicals.

Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists.

Notify supervisor of health or safety hazards (pests, leaks, broken equipment).

Maintain adequate stock of paper products, soap, cleaning solutions, PPE, Etc.

Report when supplies need replacement or reorder.

Safely store all chemicals and cleaning materials out of children’s reach.

Reliability and punctuality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Respectful and professional communication with staff, children, and families.

Other

Assist with special event setup or cleanup as needed.

Perform all other work‑related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required

High School Diploma
Sufficient English proficiency to comprehend both oral and written directions.
Valid driver’s license, proof of insurability, and cleared state driving record check.
