Senior Pump Mechanic

OVERVIEW
The Pump Mechanic III serves as a senior technical specialist responsible for advanced rebuilds, diagnostics, and failure analysis of customer and remanufactured pump assemblies in compliance with Service Center ISO procedures.
This role operates with a high level of autonomy, supporting complex shop and field service work, ensuring quality and reliability of repairs, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to mechanics across the service center. The position plays a critical role in maintaining productivity, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives while representing KSB Supreme Serv by KSB GIW, Inc. professionally in both shop and customer environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Advanced Technical Execution
- Perform complex disassembly, inspection, repair, and rebuild of pumps and rotating equipment.
- Conduct advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause failure analysis.
- Interpret engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and technical procedures to execute repairs.
- Perform precision measurements and validate tolerances using advanced measuring tools.
- Complete performance testing and final inspections to ensure equipment reliability.
- Execute field service, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting independently.
- Interface with customers to communicate repair scope, findings, and recommendations.
- Support both short-term and extended field assignments as required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Pump Mechanic I and II team members.
- Assist supervisors with planning, estimating, and coordinating complex jobs.
- Support onboarding and training of new employees on procedures and best practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to ISO procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Prepare detailed inspection and condition reports electronically.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, and workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to resolve non-conforming conditions.
- Perform advanced machining, alignment, and fabrication work as required.
- Ensure proper setup and safe operation of machine tools, lifting equipment, and test stands.
- Maintain accurate documentation, job records, and inspection data.
- Support housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and inventory coordination.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Model best practices in lifting, rigging, and equipment operation.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree considered a plus.
- 7-10+ years of experience in rotating equipment repair, pump service, or heavy mechanical environments.
- Advanced knowledge of pump systems including single-stage, multi-stage, split case, vertical turbine, and API pumps.
- Proficiency in vibration analysis, laser alignment, and precision measurement.
- Strong background in machining, fabrication, and assembly practices.
- Demonstrated field service and commissioning experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as required.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Frequently: standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Occasionally: climbing, overhead work, operating forklifts and cranes.
- Must be able to wear a respirator as required by job tasks.
