Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by leading the hotel’s Preventative Maintenance Program, with a primary focus on guest rooms. This position ensures that all guest accommodations are safe, fully functional, and maintained to the highest hospitality standards.
This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who understands that preventative maintenance directly impacts guest satisfaction. Availability to respond to urgent maintenance needs — including being on-call — is essential to the success of this position.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Room Preventative Maintenance (Primary Focus)
Execute and manage the hotel’s Preventative Maintenance Program, with emphasis on guest rooms.
Perform scheduled inspections of guest rooms to ensure HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances, furniture, and finishes are fully operational and guest-ready.
Utilize the hotel’s maintenance management app to complete work orders, document repairs, and track preventative maintenance tasks.
Maintain accurate, real-time records of completed work and upcoming preventative maintenance schedules.
Identify and resolve potential issues before they result in guest complaints or service recovery situations.
Coordinate with Housekeeping and Front Desk teams to ensure minimal disruption to room availability.
Ensure all in-room life-safety systems meet brand, safety, and compliance standards.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests.
Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and minor carpentry issues.
Maintain public areas and back-of-house spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Assist with special projects and property improvement initiatives.
Monitor for safety hazards and ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with guests.
Must be available to be on-call and respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs.
Ability to respond quickly to urgent situations to minimize guest impact and operational disruption.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
Experience in hotel or hospitality maintenance strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and basic carpentry.
Comfortable using digital maintenance management systems or mobile apps.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to preventative maintenance standards.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
Ability to move throughout the property for extended periods.
