The Operations Department is accepting applications for summer workers. Duties will include mowing, play equipment maintenance, painting, general maintenance and upkeep of exterior grounds and facilities. Duties also may include furniture moving, assembly, construction support and operation of a variety of power equipment including pressure washers, mowers, hand tools, etc. Some areas of work are outdoors, in all weather conditions. All interested persons, including current district employees, must submit a completed Recruit & Hire application.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Determine and use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to reduce exposure to, but not limited to, blood borne pathogens, heights, chemicals, vehicle safety, propane and other equipment.
  • Adhere to schedule: follow direction and schedules assigned by Facilities/Custodial Manager.
  • Perform District supported cleaning methods including proper use and care of custodial materials and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance; follow District uniform/dress code guidelines.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrate and display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Follow written or oral instructions; comply with District procedures, policies, and safety guidelines.
  • Time management skills are essential to providing and producing sufficient work.
  • Hold a current Oregon or Washington driver’s license.
  • Maintain personal vehicle insurance at all times in a level acceptable to the District; must maintain an acceptable driving record as defined by the District and must be able to be insured by District’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • All employees must be able to communicate in an effective manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Preferred:

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Throughout a 6-8 hour shift, be able to repeatedly stand/walk, use backpack vacuums (9-11lbs), stoop/bend, twist, reach, pull, grasping and fine hand manipulation;

    occasionally (up to 33% of the day) climb ladders, balance, crouch, kneel, crawl, climb to gym ceiling heights, use scaffolding, walk roofs, and climb in to and out of boiler rooms; must be able to frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.

    EVALUATION:

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Tigard-Tualatin School District 23J and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter 51.
