Position: BUILDING CLEANING WORKER I-II

Position

State of New Hampshire – New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter St, Tilton, NH 03276. Building Cleaning Worker I-II. Position #TMPPT
1908. Pay range $14.40 – $20.80 hourly.

Schedule:

6:00 am – 2:30 pm, including some weekends (+$2.00/hour) and some holidays.

Responsibilities
  • BCW I:
    Perform light to heavy physical housekeeping, floor care, and custodial activities; dusting, vacuuming, stripping, buffing, waxing, polishing floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, disinfecting.
  • BCW I:
    Remove snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; salt and sand when needed; move furniture, equipment, and resident belongings as necessary for moves, new admissions, discharges and floor care; pack, inventory, and store belongings securely.
  • BCW I:
    Use mechanical equipment such as disinfectant robot, floor care equipment, or wheelchair washer machine; perform condition checks and replace or repair as needed; report issues.
  • BCW I:
    Apply infection control best practices; adhere to VA Environmental Service Standards when cleaning resident rooms and common areas.
  • BCW I:
    Apply appropriate solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; dispose of waste following MSDS and safety requirements; stock supplies and inform supervisor when low.
  • BCW I:
    Collaborate with other disciplines to provide a clean, safe environment for residents.
  • BCW II:
    Lead and mentor crew, ensuring cleaning, shift details, and projects are completed on schedule; inspect and review work for quality and safety.
  • BCW II:
    Perform similar housekeeping and floor care duties as BCW I, including handling equipment, moving furniture, and responding to safety and maintenance concerns.
  • BCW II:
    Investigate complaints about cleanliness or equipment; take corrective action on site and refer escalated issues to supervisor.
  • BCW II:
    Complete daily activity logs, inventory stock, and communicate needs to supervisor.
  • BCW II:
    Apply infection control best practices, solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; dispose of waste per requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BCW I: 8th grade education. No license or certification required.
  • BCW II:
    High school diploma or equivalent. No license or certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of large complex health facility cleaning practices.
  • Knowledge of customer and personal service principles.
  • Knowledge of health, environment and safety quality standards.
  • Reading and writing skills with ability to prepare written and oral reports.
  • Listening skills.
  • Analytical skills for planning and ordering tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
  • Ability to recognize potential problems.
  • Willingness to maintain appropriate appearance for duties.
