Building Cleaning Worker I-II (Job )

Schedule:

6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. shift, with some weekends ($2.00 extra per hour) and some holidays.

Salary: $14.40–$20.80 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Level I: Perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of multiple buildings and facilities for the NH Veterans Home. May include assignment to multiple units, areas, and locations.
  • Level II: Serve as a team or crew lead and/or shift point person, independently providing a full range of cleaning duties for one or multiple state facilities, buildings, grounds, or institutions. May include assignment to multiple units, areas, locations, or districts.
Qualifications
  • Level I

    Minimum Qualifications:

    At least 8th‑grade education.
  • Level II

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent credential.
  • No license or certification required for either level.
  • Optional substitution: Each additional year of approved formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience, and vice versa.
  • Preferred qualifications for both levels:
    • Knowledge of cleaning services methods and practices in a large complex or health facility.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
    • Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment, and safety.
    • Ability to read, write, and prepare written and oral reports.
    • Ability to listen and understand spoken information and ideas.
    • Ability to arrange tasks or actions in order or pattern according to specific rules.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Ability to anticipate problems or identify potential issues.
    • Willingness to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties, as determined by the agency.
