Job Title: Math Specialist
Reports To: Building Principal, Director of Curriculum
FLSA Status: Exempt

To provide assistance to the Principal and teachers with meeting Federal, State, District and School goals and objectives in mathematics.

Valid IL Professional Educator License with Self Contained K-9 endorsement
Math endorsement

• Assist with the delivery of mathematics related instruction tied to the District Curriculum Standards.
• Monitor student progress.
• Coordinate math assessments and progress monitoring.
• Collect assessment data, providing charts and graphs.
• Monitor the use of research-based math related software.
• Select and articulate appropriate materials and resources.
• Model research based best practice instructional strategies in the classroom.
• Make recommendations for and provide staff development in coordination with the school improvement plan and mathematics needs.
• Other mathematics related duties as assigned by the principal.

• Knowledge of IL State Standards in Mathematics of the prescribed curriculum.
• Knowledge of current research in Mathematics.
• Knowledge of varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
• Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of use of current technology, including disaggregation of data.
• Skill in verbal and written communication with students, parents, and others.
• Ability to plan and implement instructional activities for maximum effectiveness in math.
• Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.
• Demonstrated success in training other professionals.
