Sr. Civil Engineer

Farnsworth Group is seeking an experienced Sr.
Civil Engineer in the posting location(s) below. In this role, you will be focused on the planning, design, and management of various civil engineering projects including water/wastewater/stormwater and transportation projects for local and government agencies.

Posting Locations: Tinley Park, IL

• Plan, design, complete and manage a variety of municipal and some private owner‑driven civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare and develop construction and design documents and plans.
• Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants.
• Attend occasional project, city staff, and board meetings.
• Communicate planning objectives for current and future client projects.
• Prepare project proposals and assist with business development efforts.
• Interact with IDOT, IEPA, county, and MWRD and understand project submittals.
• Lead and mentor younger engineers.
• Manage, support, and build relationships with clients and agencies.
• Conduct project field observations and condition assessments.

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of related civil engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or actively seeking licensure.
• Experience with federal, state, local regulatory authorities and IDOT.
• Experience working with municipal and private clients.
• Sanitary sewer, water line, and storm water management design experience a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Geo Pak, SS4, Micro Station, or Open Roads.
• Team experience managing multiple ongoing projects.
• Construction engineering and observation knowledge.

Salary Range: $105,000 – $150,000 (salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity).
