St. Coletta's of Illinois is looking for an RN Trainer/DON to join St Coletta's of Illinois. This position provides the required supervision to ensure the quality performance of the Nursing Department’s daily operations, as well as directly coordinating and managing medical services to the individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities that reside at one of the agency’s community based residential facilities.
Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Salary: $100,000 annually
Responsibilities- Interviews, selects and assigns personnel within the Nursing Services Department.
- Supervises and evaluates nursing personnel and other personnel assigned to the Nursing Department.
- Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Substitutes for subordinate personnel to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Coordinates medical clinics and works with physicians and specialists to ensure needed treatments and procedures are provided.
- Develops policies and procedures for the nursing and agency personnel that promote compliance with DHS Rule 116.
- Prepares and oversees budget for Nursing Services Department.
- Ensures daily nursing services and administration of medication are in compliance with Rule 116 and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitors the timely completion of individual care plans per agency policy and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees and provides training to Direct Care personnel in the administration of medication to individuals in services.
- Establishes and maintains on-going training programs for nursing personnel; and periodically reviews and updates nursing protocols to ensure that they are consistent with current practices and requirements.
- Provides on-the-job training, guidance, coaching and counseling as needed to correct and improve staff performance.
- Reviews performance of nursing staff and takes disciplinary action when performance is below expected levels and/or when personal conduct requirements are not met.
- Collaborates with agency personnel from other departments to promote and enhance the quality of care for individuals enrolled in one of the agency’s residential programs.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with coworkers and community groups; communicates effectively both orally and in writing; represents the department on controversial issues with tact and diplomacy; makes presentations to the public, community organizations and various boards and communities.
- Reviews and analyzes proposed legislation pertaining to nursing and medical services that impact the department.
- Reviews and approves department employees’ time sheets to ensure accuracy and to address non-compliant use of agency time.
