Store - CHI-TINLEY PARK, IL

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop, locate products, and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.

Event

Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in completing craft projects, performing face‑painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add‑ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Customer Experience
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with omni‑channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store In‑Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute company policies and standards.
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
  • Cross‑trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.

  • Strong written, verbal, non‑verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

  • Public retail store setting; some stock rooms may not be climate‑controlled; occasional outdoor work for cart retrieval or truck unloading; frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press.
Work Environment
  • Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Base Pay Range: $15.00 - $17.70 per hour.
