Job SummaryThe Eye Care Advisor enhances customer experience by delivering the For Eyes experience. The role supports the store’s optometry practice and key performance indicators under the guidance of the Store Manager and within the scope of state law.
MajorDuties & Responsibilities
- Greets customers without delay (within 30 seconds).
- Promptly answers telephone calls within three rings in a friendly manner.
- Explains required paperwork, tests, products, and services in the doctor’s office.
- Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully; identifies special needs and consults with optician, managing doctor, or retail management.
- Demonstrates patience and courtesy with indecisive or difficult customers and patients.
- Performs work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and customer volume.
- Identifies unsatisfied customers and acts quickly for resolution.
- Demonstrates knowledge of appointment book and scheduling procedures and computer operation.
- Handles and files all patient records in an organized manner in accordance with HIPAA.
- Places contact lens orders, processes shipments, and submits invoices for payment.
- Operates the POS system terminal, inputting customer/patient and prescription information accurately.
- Maintains store appearance and ensures visual displays follow company guidelines.
- Maintains a safe working environment for associates and patients.
- Responds swiftly to changes in store promotions with appropriate staff communication, graphics, and point‑of‑purchase materials.
- Demonstrates strong product knowledge and accurately describes features and benefits of lenses and frames.
- Assists customers in selecting frames and lenses that best suit vision, lifestyle, and budget.
- Performs all pre‑examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail; explains measurements and answers patient questions.
- Provides coaching and guidance on contact lens care and handling.
- Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; provides clinical support to the optometrist as needed.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Strong customer service skills with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of current fashion trends.
- Leadership skills.

- Familiarity with cash register, computers, and calculators.
- Organization skills.
- Sales skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of office and store merchandise.
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, and/or optical.

Pay Range: $18.95 – $26.79 per hour. In addition, a competitive bonus and/or commission may be offered. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and employee discounts.
