Child Care Specialist - Floater
As Child Care Specialist:
To provide direct care, training and specialized support to children within all four service categories (Medical 1 & 2 and Mental Health 1 &
2) consistent with each child's particular physical, social, emotional and special behavioral needs and goals identified in their service plan, in a manner which promotes their growth in independence, socialization and integration into community life. In children's foster care program and in the children's youth group home.
As Floater:
To provide critical interim care and support to a variable assignment of children who do not have a regularly assigned Child Care Specialist or who require additional direct support services or more specialized behavioral support.
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide emotional support, hands-on assistance, and consistent guidance. Responsibilities include implementing goal-based programming, documenting progress, supporting foster families, transporting children to appointments, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings. You will also help maintain safety by providing appropriate physical assistance, monitoring behavior, and ensuring children are never left unsupervised. Your compassion, attentiveness, and ability to remain steady during behavioral or medical challenges will directly shape the positive experiences of the children you serve.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED; must be at least 21 years old.
- Six months of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or medical complexities (preferred).
- Valid Illinois driver's license and insurance.
- Ability to obtain training in medication administration, defensive driving, First Aid, and CPR.
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to provide physical assistance and respond to behavioral needs.
