The Maintenance Technical Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and improving maintenance activities that support automotive testing equipment, facility equipment, and building operations. This role leads a skilled multi-trade maintenance team while ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Plan, coordinate, prioritize, assign, supervise, implement, and review maintenance and repair activities for automotive testing equipment, facility equipment, and buildings.
- Lead and direct a small multi-trade maintenance crew to complete work safely and on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Canadian Electrical Code, TSSA requirements, corporate policies, and all applicable regulations.
- Develop maintenance strategies and programs while improving existing maintenance policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot automated testing system issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Manage all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance for skilled trades personnel.
- Oversee and maintain a preventive maintenance program for automotive testing equipment and facilities.
- Prioritize maintenance work based on operational urgency and workforce availability.
- Maintain accurate hourly timekeeping records, vacation schedules, and time-off requests.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for janitorial service contracts.
- Conduct environmental inspections and coordinate waste disposal and pickup activities.
- Procure parts, materials, tools, and equipment rentals required to complete maintenance work.
- Track and report key performance metrics, including preventive maintenance completion rates, overtime, and other maintenance KPIs.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels for maintenance materials, spare parts, and equipment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial automation experience, including project management experience.
- Ability to work any shift, including overtime as required.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, from hourly represented employees to senior leadership.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with plant leadership and internal customers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Goal-oriented self-starter with proven leadership abilities.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop skilled trades employees.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience leading maintenance teams in a unionized environment.
- Green Belt, Red X, or Six Sigma certification/training.
