We are currently looking for an Instructor Technical Training to join our team in Somerset, NJ. This role instructs dealership technicians in theory of operation, diagnosis, and repair of automotive systems used in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles; verifies their understanding using competency‑based training; prepares classrooms, workshops, and vehicles as appropriate; and maintains attendee training records in a software system database. Responsibilities also include facility tasks, training vehicle inventory maintenance, and contributing to brand value and profitable growth.
ADay in the Life
Conducts classroom lectures and discussions on theory of operation, technology, and specific automotive systems used in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles; instructs and demonstrates the use of special tools and equipment; verifies that students understand training and are competent to perform repairs as instructed.
Performs classroom setup for instruction including collecting, preparing, and arranging media such as technician guidebooks, PowerPoint presentations, diagram boards, and other materials.
Organizes workshop vehicles and workstations that use components such as engine or transmission assemblies and simulators that depict specific systems or components. Assures vehicles are appropriately set‑up for the training session.
Prints class rosters, tracks technician progress, updates training records after each class, advises dealers if technicians do not complete class, and helps with enrollment activities when requested.
Works with area manager to maintain a vehicle inventory for training curriculum, maintains training center appearance and efficient operation, may coordinate facility maintenance with vendors, orders office and classroom supplies, technicians' guidebooks, support materials, and shop supplies, and schedules the use of the facility for other Nissan/Infiniti departments. Performs related duties as needed.
Qualifications Required- Very strong automotive technical knowledge/background, preferably with Nissan/Infiniti experience.
- Skill in effectively managing classroom and workshop environments.
- Five or more years of work experience in a technical discipline, including two or more years of direct professional training experience.
- Professional Certification (e.g., OEM Master Technician, ASE Master Technician) or an AA degree. Equivalent related college or technical courses, seminars, and in‑house classroom training are acceptable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other PC applications.
- Capability to move tables and chairs during class changes and to move/position guide books and job aids.
- Mobility sufficient for repetitive ingress and egress of vehicles, ability to walk several hundred feet, lift vehicles on a frame lift, work under the dash, stand for extended periods, and work overhead.
- Capable of lifting 60 pounds and moving wheel/tire assemblies during gearing, tire rotation, battery replacement, etc.
- ASE Master Tech Certification.
- Travel: 20% day and/or overnight travel (driven, flight‑based, or a combination).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of employment eligibility at the time of hire (E‑Verify and drug/background screening as required).
