Position: Industrial Maintenance Planner/ Industrial Maintenance Scheduler (McPherson, KS)

Overview

Westlake Pipe & Fittings, a Westlake division (NYSE: WLK), is a manufacturer of polyvinyl chloride pipe and fittings with multiple locations servicing municipal, plumbing, water well, pool and spa, and agricultural markets. This role supports maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination to improve plant productivity and performance. The Maintenance Planner Scheduler will assist in preparing reports, metrics, and tracking tools and will represent the company in a professional manner.

Responsibilities
  • Process and manage purchase requisitions for parts and services needed to support maintenance activities.
  • Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and maintain files for maintenance-related purchase requisitions.
  • Maintain specification records for production equipment and mold bases.
  • Track shipments of repair parts or locate stock and deliver to the appropriate location or individual as needed.
  • Enter supplier information into the CMMS system and monitor data to ensure work orders are created for work requiring labor time of 30 minutes or more.
  • Ensure labor hours, materials, and notes are accurately recorded in the CMMS system.
  • Help ensure the root cause is captured within work orders prior to closure.
  • Coordinate upcoming project needs and plans with the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Order parts to complete planned jobs and expedite parts to meet priorities.
  • Manage and schedule preventive maintenance (PM) activities such as inspections, oil changes, and lubrications.
  • Plan maintenance activities to be completed during scheduled production downtime under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Communicate maintenance work schedules to operations and maintenance supervision and gain alignment and compliance.
  • Arrange and coordinate outside resources or services as needed.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and procure sub-contractor assistance, rental equipment, and/or specialty tools as necessary to execute planned work.
  • Provide input to management and suggest improvements for efficiency.
  • Evaluate equipment history and predictive maintenance data to anticipate maintenance needs.
  • Notify the Maintenance Superintendent of any inventory, planning, or scheduling issues.
  • Maintain hot work permit files.
  • Perform other related duties as designated by supervision.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Requires a High School Diploma;
    Associates degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in industrial and preventative maintenance.
  • 2 years of experience in injection molding, extrusion, production, and/or manufacturing.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP and CMMS software (Fiix preferred).
  • General understanding of repair parts, electrical, welding, and mechanical equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge to plan and schedule maintenance activities.
  • Experience with purchasing, vendor management, inventory management, and labor/material planning.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.
  • Knowledge of forklift operation and maintenance (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements (preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • This is a fully onsite role. Must be able to commute daily to the McPherson, KS plant.
  • Must be able to work Monday–Friday 6am–3pm and overtime as needed, averaging 45–50 hours per week.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Environment

The position involves office/computer work, manufacturing plant, and outdoor environments. The plant environment is typically noisy and may require PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, fall protection, hard hats, and related equipment.
