Facility Maintenance Worker II (On-Call) (1) One Position Tribal School Department of Human Services
Hourly Wage: $16.53/Intermittent/On-Call
Responsible for performing assigned custodial services for the Yakama Nation Tribal School to assure the sanitation and cleanliness of the school, especially all restrooms, doorways, windows, walls, and floors throughout the building and school grounds. Work primarily of a general, manual nature, although certain tasks may require the use of power equipment. The duties are routine and performed regularly.
Examples of Work Performed- Use power equipment and hand tools such as broom, mop, auto scrubber, carpet extractor, sweeper/vacuum, buffer/polisher, and backpack vacuum as required for cleaning and general building maintenance.
- Completes routine custodial cleaning in accordance with YNTS expectations, including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, and shower fixtures, replenishing dispensers, emptying waste/recycle trash containers, dusting, sweeping, and mopping.
- Performs routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and washing windows.
- Applies floor finish and polishes floors with burnishing machine.
- Cleans Tribal School lunchroom; puts up tables and chairs after meals and takes out the garbage.
- Cleans Tribal School floors (classrooms, bathrooms, and hallways); uses a burnishing machine to shine floors.
- Changes light switches, wall plugs, ballasts, and heater motors as needed.
- Cleans Tribal School portables; vacuums and cleans bathrooms, restocks any necessary items when needed.
- When building is used after hours, school events, etc., cleans up after the event.
- In the absence of one team member, work is performed by other shift members to assure primary duties are completed.
- Maintains the security of the buildings at all times; secures doors and windows after non-business hours.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly work area and keeps equipment clean and well maintained.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have basic working knowledge of air conditioning and heating systems.
- Must have working knowledge of BIA guidelines applicable to grant schools.
- Must have working knowledge of safety guidelines, including those applicable to people with disabilities.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds frequently; assist in lifting 100 pounds occasionally; climb and descend ladders up to 50 feet when needed.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as mopping, sweeping, dumping garbage cans, cleaning and scrubbing restrooms.
- Ability to consistently bend, kneel and perform extended arm/shoulder use including overhead.
- Knowledge of cleaning practices and procedures, proper use of equipment and chemicals and proper mixing instructions.
- Ability to coordinate work with teammates to keep on schedule.
- Ability to work independently, to work with co-workers in a cooperative and helpful manner to support other members of custodial team in performance of duties.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions and to carry out those instructions.
- Ability to be self-motivated and have the physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work.
- Skill in the use of cleaning equipment.
- Ability to perform the various custodial tasks associated with the care and maintenance of buildings and surrounding premises.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have at least two years of successful custodial experience.
- Must possess a current First Aid/CPR card.
- Must have no history of child abuse and neglect.
- Must have no history or drug and alcohol abuse.
- Must provide a copy of a recent medical/physical examination document.
- Must have fire extinguisher certification or obtain training within 60 days of hire.
- Required to pass fingerprint check according to Yakama Nation Tribal School requirements.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Certificate or degree in facility maintenance, any work or education which would demonstrate the ability to perform the work.
