Are you eager to step into a dependable role as a Custodial Worker 1 with the Department of Human Services? This position gives you the chance to help keep Torrance State Hospital clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. Your work supports the daily routines of patients and staff across many different areas of the hospital. Every task you complete helps maintain a positive and orderly environment.
This position focuses on completing routine manual cleaning tasks that support the safety and upkeep of Torrance State Hospital. The role involves caring for many areas of the facility, maintaining equipment, and keeping all spaces neat and orderly. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Cleaning: Clean restrooms, dorms, hallways, offices, dining rooms, activity areas, steps, and other areas across the hospital
- Surface Care: Wash walls, windows, screens, lights, curtains, blinds, ceilings, and vents as needed
- Floor Maintenance: Strip, wax, or use other methods to maintain floors annually or as needed
- Equipment Use: Operate and clean housekeeping equipment, lift items, and climb ladders for assigned tasks
- Trash Removal: Empty inside and outside receptacles and keep all areas free of debris
- Linen Handling: Unpack and distribute linens and complete daily documentation for assigned duties

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Limited-term, full-time employment for a period of 6 to 11 months.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule includes rotating weekends, approximately every fourth weekend, with designated days off during the week.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Hourly Rate: In some cases, the starting hourly rate may be non-negotiable.

Additional Requirement:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
