Custodian Night Shift

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, maintain assignedbuildings, rooms or office space in a clean and orderly condition.

• Sweep, scrub, mop and wax floors; vacuum rugs and carpets.
• Dust and polish furniture and woodwork.
• Empty and clean waste receptacles.
• Clean restrooms; wash windows and walls; cleanblackboards/whiteboards.
• Polish metal work.
• Maintain equipment and materials.
• Assist in cleaning kitchens and snack bar equipment.
• Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; set upauditorium or classrooms for special events or meetings.
• Adjust shades and blinds; adjust desks and other relatedfurniture.
• Clean and pick up paper on grounds and courts.
• Assist maintenance crews performing painting, carpentry or other maintenance work as assigned.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and sixmonths of custodial work experience.

• Basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures.
• Basic cleaning materials, disinfectants and equipment used incustodial work.
• Common cleaning tools and their uses.
• Safe work practices.
• Safe and proper use and storage of hazardous and toxicsubstances.
• Learn assigned schedule, procedures and use of tools used incustodial work.
• Use common electrical cleaning equipment.
• Perform physical labor.

• Use of cleaning materials.
• Move from one location to another.
• Lift, carry and move up to 40 lbs.
• Hand, finger, wrist, foot dexterity.
• Long periods of standing, walking.

Starting salary is $4,375 per month. Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salaryschedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on acase-by-case basis. Salary increases are granted on the first dayof the month following each year of service, until Step F isreached ($5,590 monthly).

Employees contribute 8% of their earnings toward the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).

This is a full-time, twelve-month classified position subject to aprobationary period. The standard work week is 40 hours ofscheduled duty per week of not more than five consecutive workdays. Working hours will be in-person, Monday through Thursday 10:00 p.m.until 6:30 a.m. and Fridays 4:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. Schedule mayvary to include hours outside of the normal work schedule and weekends depending on operational need.

Paid sick leave is granted equal to one day for each month ofservice. Sick leave days may be accumulated indefinitely. Ratherthan State Disability Insurance.

Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and Social Security. Previous employment performed in a different public retirementsystem may allow eligibility to continue in the same retirementsystem .

During the summer, employees work eight 32-hour work weeks withfull pay.
