Schedule:
40 hours per week
Vacancy in the Department of Corrections.
Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM (overnight). Position located inside a Correctional Facility.
A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.
Current and future vacancies in this class may be filled from that list.
Job PurposeUnder general supervision, assists in the receipt, storage, and issuance of inmate personal property.
EssentialJob Duties
- Responsible for the receiving, storing, and issuing of inmate personal property in a carefully controlled correctional facility.
- Enters inmate personal property into specialized databases, adhering to applicable guidelines and rules for the maintenance of chain of custody.
- Tracks inmate property through channels as required.
- Conducts follow-up investigations and produces final reports.
- Codifies all property received according to Baltimore County policies and procedures and personal property inventory systems.
- Maintains personal property inventory accounting records of property received and issued.
- Conducts semiannual inventory of inmate property.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or appropriate equivalent.
- At least two years of store keeping or warehousing experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Proof of licenses, certifications, and education beyond high school required.
- Thorough knowledge of storeroom and warehouse inventory and storage methods.
- Skill in receiving, storing, and issuing personal property.
- Skill in taking inventory of personal property. Skill in maintaining records and files.
- Skill in performing arithmetic functions.
- Ability to use automated storeroom and warehouse inventory systems and databases.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license at the time of appointment.
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Employees in this classification are required to work nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Employees must attend and satisfactorily complete the requirements for certification, as dictated by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission within one year of appointment.
Employees must pass retraining requirements as mandated throughout employment.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsThe work of this classification entails job function performance in a correctional facility with some walking, lifting, carrying, and other physical activities.
Character RequirementsAll applicants must be of good moral character and emotionally stable, as determined by a comprehensive background investigation and drug test.
Medical Examination and Employment Background InvestigationApplicants selected for employment must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and employment investigation, including criminal background, education certification, and fingerprinting checks.
