Job Description:

The General Maintenance person will be responsible for general building and grounds maintenance.

This position will cross train in all aspects of facilities maintenance and the essential day to day functions. The incumbent must be flexible, self-motivated, reliable, and willing to attend necessary school events, during and after hours, as directed by the Director of Facilities. Must be willing to attend trade schools as recommended. You will be required to assist skilled tradesman in a wide variety of maintenance tasks and special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled building maintenance repairs (e.g. light carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, drywall and painting, replacing bulbs and ballast, etc.)
• Participates in meetings, workshops, training and seminars.
• Follow company policies, safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
• Independently handle maintenance requests from 3:00-5:30 daily along with all day Saturday.
• Oversee external custodial services from 4-5:30 daily to ensure buildings are being cleaned appropriately and checklists are followed.
• Assist external security service with events after school.
• Move furniture and perform set-ups for school functions.
• Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for resolving building and safety concerns.
• Conduct routine inspections on grounds and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Update Director of Facilities on major issues with interior or exterior facilities
• Stock adequate maintenance materials and equipment to avoid shortages and excesses.
• Maintain complete records of daily maintenance activities in FMX.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Three or more years of experience in maintenance work
• Training or experience in a skilled trade, preferred.
• Solid understanding of a variety of repair techniques and tool operation.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding job that includes heavy lifting (25 lbs. and over).
