Overview

SUMMARY OF

JOB PURPOSE:

Using judgment and discretion the Maintenance Supervisor creates, implements and monitors maintenance management policies and procedures including safety. In addition the supervisor monitors the facility’s equipment in order to comply with specifications and quality required by law.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities
  • Implement maintenance policy and operating procedures.
  • Provide expert advice on equipment and maintenance matters to Plant and Operations Manager including any senior manager in Northwest Pipe Company.
  • Plan, create and submit long-term maintenance budgets.
  • Read schematics and provide expert advice to managers and subordinates.
  • Review and negotiate capital improvements, which affects equipment and maintenance of the equipment and provide expert advice to Saginaw facility senior leaders including Northwest Pipe Company senior management.
  • Monitor and ensure any type of facility modification is performed correctly by external and internal business partners.
  • Provide and maintain a safe and clean work environment for employees including actively participating in the Safety program.
  • Motivate employees to ensure employees are engaged while repairing or conducting any type of maintenance on equipment or facility which will instill pride and quality to the value chain.
  • Provide training to all employees and provide expert advice on applicable training courses.
  • Insure Lean philosophies and ideas are implemented on all type of maintenance and procurement.
  • Comply with quality policy and ISO procedures.
  • Ensure all procurements are conducted to ensure policies, procedures and laws are followed.
  • Comply with SOX procedures.
  • The Maintenance Supervisor must monitor and implement Northwest Pipe Company’s policies.
  • Perform reviews using Northwest Pipe performance management procedures.
  • Create, implement and manage 5s projects.
  • Conduct safety meetings.
  • Ensure all tools safety equipment, including PPE are being utilized properly.
  • Inspect all safety equipment and tools daily.
  • Create plans for any maintenance or modifications to facility or equipment.
  • Comply with all environmental, state and federal laws.
  • Provide advice and make recommendations to any modification or installation of any equipment.
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with all safety regulations.
  • Research all materials need to repair equipment and ensure it meets specifications.
  • Conduct accurate estimates on all projects related to the facility and equipment.
  • Review all Requests for Bids related to the facility and equipment.
  • Provide all Managers, Supervisors and Lead personnel information in regards to Estimated
    -Time
    -to –Return- to
    - Operation.
  • Create updates and maintains maintenance management software program.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Organize and assign priority to maintenance upgrades.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed.
  • Monitor and control maintenance budget.
  • Provide Subject Matter expertise to the Company’s Supervisors and Managers
  • Travel to other facilities to help on any facility or equipment issues.
Job Scope

The tasks mentioned above are performed daily and at various times with the exception of the secondary responsibilities which are performed as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Maintenance Supervisor will supervise and lead all maintenance personnel including any other regular full-time employee assigned to him on a temporary basis.

Interpersonal Contacts
  • This position may interact within all levels of the Northwest Pipe organization. Additionally, this position may have contact with business partners, customers, vendors, visitors and / or government agencies.

  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical skills are a must.
  • The ability to read schematics and plans.
  • Ability to ready, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
