Summary &

Qualifications:

SUMMARY

The Supplemental tech in Construction Technology is responsible for greeting and assisting Construction Technology people and students to the area. This person will also require familiarity with all the construction programs as they will be assisting the instructors of the Construction Trades Programs as needed in equipment maintenance and providing assistance in a

wide variety of capacities. This may include general office responsibilities. This employee is also required to work in the Construction Technology Labs at the Aero Park Laboratories (APL) building, performing tasks of organization, clean-up, and removal of scrap metals, painting, and cleaning. This position will occasionally require lifting, driving college vehicles to acquire equipment and supplies, and performing additional duties related to the department as

assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR REGISTRATIONS

Required:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Responsibilities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)

* Greet and assist students, staff, and faculty

* Providing guests assistance and program information

* Read, create, and respond to e-mails as needed

* Computer usage/filing/inventor

* Maintain brochure and special announcement kiosk

* Manage the APL office during staff absences as needed

* Send out bulk mailings

* Laboratory and building materials projects

* Clean and organize the APL labs

* Equipment maintenance and cleaning

* Moving equipment and recycling/disposing used materials

* Instructor assistance as requested

* Disposal of hazardous materials

* Painting, landscaping, custodial as needed in specific areas

* May occasionally work in a lab environment with paint, glue, dust, and chemicals as needed

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must effectively present to tour groups of up to 40 students of various ages.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
