Job Title: Meter Reader

Reports To: Field Operations Manager

Department: Operations

Location: NJ/PA/NY

The Meter Reader will accurately read and record commercial electrical, water, and gas meters for billing purposes using a smart phone (Android or iPhone). The meter locations are in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. Schedule will be 30-40 hours for one week, monthly. Starting pay $25.00 per hour.

• Perform meter reads on commercial electrical, water, and gas. Re-reads when necessary.
• Take clear photos of meters.
• Notate and/or inform management of any issues or changes that occur.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment and reporting safety concerns.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or technical background preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record; able to pass pre-employment background check;
• Personal vehicle will be used for travel to different sites. Mileage reimbursement provided at IRS rate.
• Employee must provide and use a personal cell phone for work; cell phone reimbursement as per Genea policy.
• Basic proficiency with smartphone applications & internet.
• Ability to read all types of meters.

• Maintain composure in challenging situations; manage multiple tasks; strong time management; accountability.
• Strong attention to detail; ability to identify and solve problems; escalate as needed.

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands/fingers with dexterity.
• Frequently climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl; occasionally talk or hear.
• Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions (non-weather) and external weather conditions.
• Frequently work near moving mechanical parts; occasional high places.
• Noise level usually moderate; may lift and/or move more than 20 pounds occasionally.
• Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
• Tools provided as needed.

Estimated Salary Range: $25 per hour (Plus mileage and cell phone reimbursement per above details). The final offer may be higher or lower depending on experience and qualifications. Genea participates in E-Verify for new hires in the United States. For more information, visit the E-Verify website.
