Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms a variety of building and grounds cleaning activities for the Miami Metropolitan Housing Authority and Miami County Community Action Council. This role requires a combination of skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and safety in the managed housing communities and in the main office facilities.
QualificationsMust have high school diploma or GED, training or practical experience, and two (2) or more years’ experience in environmental services. Ability to direct own work with minimal oversight. Must have Ohio driver’s license and valid insurance coverage to drive a government motor vehicle.
Licensure or Certification RequirementsLead Abatement Worker course must be completed and certification earned within six months of employment if not already in receipt by incumbent. Certification must be maintained annually. Agency will cover the cost of this and other training with supervisor approval.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Sweep, vacuum, and/or mop floors including tile, wood or linoleum entryways and hallways. Strip, wax, and polish hard floors or shampoo carpets as needed.

Clean and disinfect restrooms, breakrooms and high touch surfaces by cleaning toilets, sinks, counters and mirrors; restock essential supplies like hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.

Empty trash and recycling bins, lining them with fresh bags and disposing of waste in designated areas. Haul collected waste to external dumpsters or compactors.

Dust furniture, polish woodwork, clean windows, and wash walls or glass surfaces. Mix and track chemicals strictly following safety data sheet protocols.

Perform minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging toilets, or tightening loose fixtures. Report major maintenance issues to management. Work with maintenance team to do minor repairs.

Ensure doors and windows are locked, secure the facility at the end of the shift, and activate alarm systems.

Monitor cleaning supply stock and notify supervisors when it is time to reorder. Pick up materials, supplies, and equipment needed to complete projects and maintain the main office facility. Deliver such supplies to appropriate office, storage or department. Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations/procedures.

Depending on the site, tasks may include sweeping exterior walkways, mowing lawns, or removing litter. Clear outdoor pathways by removing loose debris or shoveling snow and applying salt.
