Schedule:

40 hours/week; typical shift 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with flexibility required for earlier starts or extended hours during services
Job Summary:
Maintains the overall appearance, functionality, and safety of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home grounds and facilities. Responsibilities include groundskeeping, service setups, burial preparations, marker installations, general maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations..
Key Responsibilities:
Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance:

• Mow lawns; trim grass around trees, walkways, markers; sod installation; pruning; flower placement and removal.

• Clear debris, maintain walkways and drives; snow removal depending on weather
Service Setup & Support:

• Erect tents/canopies and arrange chairs for graveside services

• Assist with ceremony setups for interments, entombments, inurnments; prepare crypts and grave sites.
Grave & Marker Operations:

• Locate grave sites; dig, backfill graves (under supervision when using backhoe); install markers, bronze memorials, crypt faces.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance:

• Clean, service, and store equipment; perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on tools and vehicles.

• Maintain buildings and work spaces: minor repairs, painting, cleaning
Safety & Compliance:

• Follow OSHA, local, state, and corporate safety/environmental procedures.

• Ensure worksite safety; operate tools and machinery responsibly

Required Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience

Experience:

At least 6 months in groundskeeping, maintenance, or related roles
Physical Abilities:

• Proficient with handheld tools (shovels, rakes, mowers, etc.)

• Ability to accurately measure and locate gravesites

• Capable of walking/standing long periods; lifting up to 150 lbs (with assistance); pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs
Skills:

• Effective communication with team members, contractors, and bereaved families

• Basic computer literacy for email and scheduling
Additional Requirements & Preferences

• Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

• Flexible with changing schedules and multiple tasks

• Understanding of cemetery/gravesite layout, markers, vaults, and plot mapping
