Hiring Range: $25.14 - $30.16 Per Hour;
Pay Range: $25.14 - $35.18 Per Hour. Range Explanation:
Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will consider factors including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)- Inspect, clean, repair, disinfect, implement vector control, and maintain gravity and pressure-based sanitary sewage conveyance systems.
- Lead, direct, and train Utility Maintenance Workers in the inspection, cleaning, repair, and maintenance of sewage conveyance and pumping systems.
- Assign tasks to crew members and train others in maintenance and inspection techniques.
- Locate and remove blockages in sewer lines and manholes; perform operator-level servicing and maintenance of specialized tools, equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by maintaining PPE and implementing safety training; establish and maintain worksite traffic control and warning devices.
- Install, adjust, and service flow and atmospheric sampling and metering equipment; operate and service specialized equipment such as pressure cleaners, sprayers, vacuum machines, and pumping equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on sewer lines, cleanouts, manhole structures, and wastewater pumping systems, including pump and valve rebuilding; handle hazardous materials and disinfectants per safety guidelines.
- Enforce safety regulations, compile and submit activity reports, inform the public about repair and maintenance crew activities.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial wastewater pumps, pumping systems, power-generating engines, and compressors.
- Perform welding, concrete, carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, and electrical work as needed for equipment and structural repairs, including site mitigation/remediation following Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO).
Four years of experience in the operation, maintenance, construction, or repair of sewage or wastewater conveyance systems, including two years of experience in sewer maintenance. Or One year of experience with Pima County as a Utility Maintenance Worker II. Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application.

- Possess a current Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Collection System Grade 2 Certification.
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with Tanker endorsement.
- Minimum one (1) year of field experience working as a lead within a sewer collection system.
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources.

Licenses and Certificates:
All positions require possession of a valid Grade 3 Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Wastewater Collection certification and a valid Class B Arizona commercial driver license (CDL), with appropriate endorsements, at time of appointment. Valid driver8;s license is required at the time of application. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review. This position requires a valid Arizona Class D driver’s license at the time of application or prior to completion of initial/promotional probation.
A valid Arizona CDL (Class A, B, or C with appropriate endorsements) is required. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure may be grounds for termination.
