Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing public charter schools dedicated to academic excellence and providing safe, supportive learning environments for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Day Porter / Custodian to support the daily operations of our campus. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities ### Facility Cleaning & Maintenance
* Monitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the campus during the school day.
* Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas.
* Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and other surfaces.
* Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from indoor and outdoor areas.
* Clean windows, walls, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
* Launder custodial materials such as towels and mop heads.### Daily Operations Support
* Maintain adequate inventories of cleaning supplies and equipment.
* Assist with cafeteria setup, school events, and operational needs as assigned.
* Perform minor maintenance tasks, including light bulb replacement and basic facility upkeep.
* Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
* Apply floor waxes, finishes, and sealants as directed.### Safety & Compliance
* Follow all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements and chemical handling procedures.
* Maintain compliance with campus safety standards and HAZMAT regulations.
* Assist with securing campus facilities, including locking and unlocking designated areas.
* Promptly address safety concerns and report facility issues.### Communication & Collaboration
* Communicate custodial supply needs and maintenance concerns to campus leadership.
* Interact professionally with students, families, staff, and visitors.
* Respond promptly to facility requests and operational needs.
* Perform additional duties as assigned to support school operations.## Qualifications & Competencies### Required
* High school diploma or GED.
* Minimum of two (2) years of custodial, facilities, maintenance, or related experience.
* Knowledge of custodial procedures, cleaning equipment, and safe chemical handling practices.
* Ability to operate custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet extractors.
* Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.### Preferred
* Experience working in a school, educational, or public facility setting.
* Experience supporting large facilities or high-traffic environments.## Skills & Attributes
