Position: Fleet & Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)

Summary

Repairs and maintains light, medium and heavy vehicles and equipment.

Minimum Requirements
  • Four years of skilled automotive or equipment (mechanical and electrical) repair experience OR
  • Two (2) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications or twelve (12) semester credit hours of post‑high‑school general education studies or trade school studies in mechanics.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license.
  • Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
Requirements Prior to Start Date
  • FBI fingerprint background check.
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
  • Physical Examination with lift test (Category

    B) by one of the clinics with which the District contracts and complete and sign a Medical History form.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with Air Brake, endorsement within 90 days of hire.
  • CDL training is provided by the district during the initial 90 days of employment.
  • Must hold a current Arizona Driver’s license and have accrued no more than the allowable points against the Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB‑R‑1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services – Transportation by Employees.
  • Arizona Dept. of Transportation (ADOT) Medical Certificate and ADEQ emissions (non‑diesel and diesel) testing certificate required within 90 days of hire.
  • Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department.
