** The Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). two openings in the Operations Warehouse for Transportation Maintenance Specialist I. Duties for this position include receiving and issuing supplies and materials using all computerized inventory management programs. In this role, you will use basic hand tools, power tools, welding/fabricating tools as well as perform repairs on tools, and small equipment. You may also be tasked with assembling items needed in our DOT Maintenance Division and will be required to operate a forklift and drive a pick-up truck as needed to perform freight loading/unloading and delivery receiving.
Successful candidate will be required to pass an Arizona Department of Corrections background check.
Primary duties will include:
* Distribution of items such as PPE, tools, traffic control devices, and materials to maintenance crews.
* Receive, count, and catalogue items purchased from vendors.
* Use management software to issue and track inventory items.
* Operate forklift to unload freight deliveries.
* Welding and fabrication of miscellaneous items needed by Maintenance Operations.
* Assembly and repair of various types of traffic control devices.
* Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.

* Inspects, services and maintains assigned tools, equipment and vehicles;
* Performs quality control analysis on equipment or supported systems for proper functioning and performs remedial actions necessary to assure optimum operations;
* Inspects, approves or certifies work of others (if certified or authorized to do so);
* Maintains comprehensive activity, operations, service and usage records on supported vehicles, equipment and systems;
* Prepares estimates for unique or complex operations, maintenance and special projects from rough sketches and engineering plans or drawings, and documents use and expenditure of materials, supplies and equipment;
* Prepares sketches and drawings for work proposed or in-progress to communicate needed information to supervisors, subordinates and contractors;
* Coordinates own or work-unit activities with other work-units, agencies or contractors to assure optimal use of available resources and to minimize disruptions of service or support;
* Monitors contractor performance (including contractor-supplied goods and services);
* Stores, handles, uses and disposes of hazardous materials required, encountered or generated in work activities;
