Position: Custodial Worker (NON-PERMANENT)

Custodial Worker

The Custodial Worker position at the City of Tucson's Parks and Recreation conducts routine cleaning, sanitizes facilities, and maintains the general upkeep of recreation centers and surrounding areas following safety and sanitation guidelines. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleans and sanitizes building interiors and exteriors, including floors, trash, walkways, windows, surfaces, fixtures, countertops, and restroom furniture.
  • Operates floor scrubbers and buffers to wax and buff designated facility areas.
  • Reviews chemical material data sheets and labels cleaning supplies for safe handling and informs the necessary parties of maintenance needs and supply requirements.
  • Reports emergencies, inspects equipment for damage, and communicates repair or replacement needs.
  • Sets up and breaks down tables, chairs, and wall dividers for facility rentals.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Some High School

Work Experience:

Under one (1) year of relevant experience License/Certification:
Valid and Unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months of directly related experience
  • Experience cleaning and maintaining high-traffic public facilities including recreation centers, community centers, schools, park facilities, or similar environments.
  • Experience maintaining facilities utilized by youth, seniors, and the general public.
  • Experience using industrial cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
