SUMMARY:
The Programming Intern is a temporary, project-based role focused on reprogramming the plant’s current camera system. The goal is to determine whether the existing system can be restored to full function at a lower cost than purchasing a new one. The intern will work under the Plant Manager’s oversight and in close coordination with IT, Maintenance, and Operations. The project is expected to run approximately two to three months.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reprogram and troubleshoot the current camera system to restore full functionality.
- Coordinate with IT, Maintenance, and Operations to keep equipment running safely and efficiently throughout the project.
- Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on system issues.
- Document findings so a repair-versus-replacement decision can be made.
- All other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma/ GED required
- PC Support and IT related experience desired but not required
- Prior exposure to camera, PLC, or industrial control system programming is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organization and prioritization skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Reports directly to the Plant Manager
- Works closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering.
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, and access elevated platforms and confined process areas
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during troubleshooting activities
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work around odors, noise, heat, and humidity.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and protective footwear
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written documentation in a fast-paced operational environment
