Core Responsibilities

This individual contributor position is responsible for developing and managing the maintenance schedule to effectively balance preventative maintenance demands and repair of essential equipment and facilities. The schedule is segmented by daily, weekly, and monthly buckets. Key duties include planning, scheduling, and coordinating the maintenance schedule by reviewing and releasing work orders, coordinating supplier schedules, and procuring emergency maintenance items. The role aligns resources with demand based on PM planning and shop floor needs, manages purchase of maintenance items not maintained in inventory, and oversees work orders and expenses for essential equipment.

Functions
  • Reports to the Facilities Manager.
  • Coordinates activities and deployable maintenance schedules.
  • Evaluates preventative maintenance requirements and creates work orders.
  • Organizes project work and repair work required by the maintenance team.
  • Maintains planned scheduling parameters such as lead‑times, lot sizes, safety stocks, delivery times and order file data for all scheduled items.
  • Creates a schedule that satisfies production demands with optimum scheduling to prevent equipment downtime.
  • Identifies, negotiates, and resolves conflicts regarding material and capacity availability and order‑promising integrity.
  • Sources and requests quotes for new material or new suppliers for special purchase items.
  • Reviews equipment list and preventative maintenance instructions for new or changes to existing materials.
  • Coordinates and manages inventory levels of critical spare parts.
  • Summarizes daily and weekly work orders for released and firm planned orders and compares these to the preventative maintenance plan to ensure all maintenance needs are met.
  • Provides data reporting to identify opportunities for improvement through trend analysis.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Develops working knowledge of Valmont equipment, manufacturing and scheduling processes to ensure optimal value stream schedule stability, work order creation, rescheduling, load leveling, etc.
  • Informs management when demand cannot be met and recommends alternatives for satisfying demand.
  • Acts as an outward “face” for the company and represents the company to internal employees, other sites, outside vendors and other company functions.
  • Ensures necessary maintenance and production supply items are immediately available in the storeroom.
  • Works with outside contractors taking bids.
  • Organizes meetings and tours for vendors.
  • Uses judgment and decision‑making skills while comparing relative cost and benefit potential.
  • Identifies employee / distribution center training needs.
  • Collaborates with a group to reach consensus.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the workforce and management.
  • Motivates, develops, and directs people without having authority over them.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, problem solving, planning skills and attention to detail with accuracy.
  • Schedules daily workload with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Works quickly and efficiently with employees, suppliers and vendors.
  • Organizes and manages multiple, simultaneous priorities and meets aggressive deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Has knowledge of the material, costs, techniques and processes used within the manufacturing industry.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or Associate’s Degree with 3+ years of experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Attention to detail and quality in work.
